I picked up this original piece of NASCAR/Daytona Speedway history this past week while in Deland, FL just 20 miles from the track. The sign was taken down by this company at the end of the 2003 season and replaced with the current Sunoco signs that are in place.

The 76 lighted 8ft signs were on either end of pit road (this one from the exit side according to the sign company owner). Around the outside of the track were the metal 76 spotting balls used by spotters.

I can get a signed statement from the company owner right now, and am awaiting a copy of the contract with Daytona Speedway for the replacement of the signs as further provenance of this sign.

The sign is approximately 9' tall and 5' wide including the frame.

I currently have it in storage in Florida and was planning on bringing it to Daytona in late March for their auto swap show being held then.

$3000 since it has significance as an actual NASCAR/Daytona piece

Here are some views of the 76 sign in place while at Daytona from '70-2003.

Before 1970 Pure signs were in those positions.

Finally have the 76 ball back in SC after an overnight trip to pick it up out of storage.

Current plan is to bring it to Charlotte Autofair in a couple weeks.

The 76 sign has found a home in a well known NASCAR figure's garage.

He's not a sign guy, so no it's not who you think. In fact he's been in the business far longer.

He's happy, I'm happy... win win for a vintage piece of Daytona history!
