Still work to do. May add shelves up the sides for cans of the same era.
And still have to final mount the barrel and barrel side piece.
Also would like to scroll cut somehow the top and bottom. Give it some character.
I did a couple test where I tried to age paint the wood in spots of yellow and blue. But wasn't to happy with the results so kept it natural.

Nice job Steve. You didn't cut the barrel top did you?

No Les. There's actually a portion of the sides left. You can't tell in that pic but the barrel sticks out about 4-5 inches.

I need to get a little more barn wood to cut a couple curved pieces to mount the side portion below the barrel.

Would also be nice to rust the lamp hardware. But I got impatient and had to put it together.

Looks great, Steve!...

(I have used cedar fence boards, that I lay out in the weather for 6 mos. or so, when I don't have access to actual barn wood; perhaps that would work with some of your displays?)

Looks great as is.. will look great with the shelves as mentioned. I'd even say it would look good with some distressed trim around the perimeter even painted flat black and distressed could work. That top is awesome...I had no idea of the potential detail added to the top. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!

Yes, I ran out of long enough barn wood. I plan to make a frame out of barn wood for the edges. But I am going to do the shelves, so I'll be working it all in together.

Hey Bob, Hope all is well on your end. Haven't seen you around these pages much it seems.
No problem on the barn wood supply. I have a great salvage place about 8 miles north of me that always has plenty for little projects like this. $4 a square foot is cheap enough too!
