Vintage Cracker Box Derby Racer Wheels by Neilson Wheel Company and Firestone. I didn't know what I was seeing at first, when I spotted a large box under a derelict tractor, in a even more derelict barn in Michigan and I was quite excited when I was finally able to dig this out. This is a set of four Cracker Box Derby Racing Wheels by the Neilson Wheel Co. of Milwaukee Wis. Ten inch wide with tires, seven inches for just the rim. All four wheels are original to the box, with three bearing the Firestone logo. Neilson made wheels for farm machinery and when they broke into making wheels for competitive racing, they used Firestone almost exclusively for the treads. Still has the original brackets, frankly considering the weight of the wheels, I was surprised the box survived in any condition. These sets are next to impossible to find and even more so in their original box. I recently found a set of Neilson wheels on a old pedal car I purchased, so they definitely could be used as a higher quality rim & wheel set for your vintage toys.
