Does anyone recollect or have any info on an old Southern California gas station from the 40's or 50's that was called Albatross and had an airplane motif. My friend says it may have been a small chain and the one he really remembers was in Studio City on the corner of Ventura Blvd and Coldwater Canyon. He's been dying to find anything out about this. He's tried the Chamber of Commerce and constant Google searching but to no avail.

Sorry guys, I didn't get to Calif. until 1969 and then I had a USMC Drill Instructor making sure I didn't have time to look for gas stations. The only "Seaside" I knew of, was at Camp Pendleton, where we'd drag our sorry butts in the sand. I've never heard of an "Albatross" gas station.

There is however a Albatross out board motor oil, manufactured by P.A.R.A.CO oil re-finners of los Angelas, who also canned HI-VALUE motor oil that was sold as discount oil in auto stores. hope this helps. HTH.

Joenjo, look in John Margolies book "Pump and Circumstance". Page 71 has a photo of the "Zenith Albatross Texaco" station located in SoCal in the 30's. Don't know if this is the station you're looking for or not. Hope this helps. Good luck in your hunt.
