There were two types but they look identical from the front. One style is like the ones in this auction:

They're the same as Wayne 515 and 615 (and many other) indicators.

Other style had a different attachment for the numbers to the rod. Near as I can tell these were on earlier pumps.

Here are pictures of original Wayne 492 gallon indicators . The first 2 pictures are the older version which are considerably more detailed , attractive , and better made . The last picture is the latter type which is the same gallon indicators used in the Wayne visible's from then onward . Peter

Boy, the things you learn. I've had 9 of these and NEVER seen the indicators shown on Peter's two pumps. But you're missing one Peter...there's actually a version BETWEEN the two you've pictured. If I can find a pic I'll post it. Nearly identical to the later version but the numbers are held to the rod with a piece of spring metal and not screws.
