I have high end taste but am NEW to signage collecting. I have to be careful because I have big eyes with little knowledge. I am interested in a Paramount sign and saw this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Paramount-Pictur...igAAOSwImRYU3rc Seller looks like he has good feedback but who knows? Seems like an easy sign to fake as weathering likely was minimal if it was kept indoors? Just a thought.

I would talk to some of the west coast collectors to see if Paramount actually used such signs in anything but very large size found on buildings. That particular logo dates to only 4-5 years according to logo wiki. The auction doesn't even show a sign, it shows a logo... had to laugh when I looked at it.

I have seen the sign sell at supposedly reputable auction houses. The sign looks a deeper blue. For example, http://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/vi...5-c-32a74f9dfa#Lot 305: Vintage metal Paramount Television Productions studio sign. Est: $2,000 - $3,000 Sold: $2,500 Profiles in History December 21, 2013, 11:00 AM PST Calabasas Hills, CA, US 3 saved share Share | View more I would talk to some of the west coast collectors to see if Paramount actually used such signs in anything but very large size found on buildings. Not to burst your bubble, but it wouldn't be the first time an auction, even a high end auction, described something incorrectly. Like I said, a west coast collector with years of experience might better say if such signs actually exist in the wild. It could be real, or total fantasy piece since fantasy porcelain signs have been made for quite a long time. I have seen the sign sell at supposedly reputable auction houses. Check the member roster and forums for people in your area. Also post a general question in the General Petrolina forum and ask for people in your neck of the woods to contact you about collecting in general. It's a great way to find out who is near you and you might find someone close enough by who either can help you themselves or may know someone who can.
