I seem to have this fascination lately with old motorcycles and I think I would like to have the experience of owning one of the oldies, with the idea of riding it around the area for brief summer outings. I figure I had better hurry and get this accomplished before that time comes when they confiscate my drivers license! LOL
If anyone has an old project bike, or even a restored classic for sale, or has contact info for one, I would appreciate being directed to it!
Thanks--KEVIN

Was at a car show today in Oconto Wi and saw the oldest Harley I've ever seen. Original 1911 in decent shape. Wasn't much more than a bicycle with a small engine, not for sale.Forgot the camera today. Just saying guys.

That's about all those first single engine jobs were! I think I would have to have a twin to be satisfied. The sound alone, sooths the soul!

I've always wanted to attend the Hershey swap meet, but it just isn't in the cards for me, so I will have to rely on searching for one.

You might try cycletrader.com. They usually have a few older bikes. There are some professional restorers that can also get you hooked up. Good luck, Dave

Kevin look at this ebay seller talks like he has several projects.
Punch in item number 222654740146.
There is high demand for parts and they are bringing crazy prices. You would be better off to buy complete than project thats 90 percent there. I have no idea how far back you call old.
Don't buy anything from the AMF era, they was better at bowling balls then bikes.
Also Dale Walkster who owns Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley NC.
could stir you in the right direction. Or might have something for sale last time I was there he still had more bikes to restore than he will be able to get too.

I will be in Daytona in October and will see tens of thousands of Motorcycles...many antiques. If you wish I will get some cards or contact info from some of the restorers, just let me know. Dave

Barber Vintage Days is coming up Oct. 6-8 at Barber Motorsports Speedway in Leeds Al. There will be more vintage bikes there than anywhere. Could easily be at least a 1,000 for sale.

If it was ever made, it's most likely there!

repo parts are worse in vintage bikes than in pumps and signs. Really impacts values. Go over to Classic American Iron Forums and join up. Guys there will give you plenty of opinions on value. www.caimag.com

Have deep pockets, unlimited patience and thick skin. I've been working on a '50 pan for 3 years now. It's a Love/Hate relationship. I've got a '49 waiting me to finish the 50.

Good luck

Not bad considering a brand new Harley Road Glide Ultra is 26K and change!
