Some early literature and the Wayne ID tag has a blank space just after the word "CUT" on it just before the serial # and its blank space. Type or series or model maybe?.....Nothing in the ol Webster`s that would remotely indicate that it means other than "to cut or remove" or Slice. Sorry I`m just learning these vague terms and had a heck of a time with "Keep stuffing boxes tight". They must have never owned a Model T or Model A ford and adjusted the water pump. Ford called it packing and packing nut and supplied a packing nut wrench. Packing was also used to seal the shafts on water wells, early on-off shutoffs etc. large steam turbine shafts and boat prop shaft seals, on off valves but never have heard the term "stuffing boxes" when used to describe what the "packing" and "packing nut" did.

"Cut" was just another word for "Figure," "Model," "Series" or "Lot."
