Its impossible to make any kind of a determination on originality from that picture. We would need closeup of both sides and preferably the back sides of the lenses in order to make an educated guess. Value has a broad spectrum and any 2 collectors will have a different valuation on these artifacts. Most collectors use Scott Benjamins CD to do a general valuation and then they add or subtract from there. Good closeup pictures could get you an opinion from collectors on this page and it would at least give you a starting point to work from.

Agree totally with Kevin....there is just no way to tell from that photo if that's original or not or a value to attach to it.
If that's a glass body, even if a reproduction, there would be some value to the body itself. Repro lenses generally don't have much resale value though....

What are some things to look for to authenticate the globe when purchasing?

There's really no "10 cent" answer on knowing original vs. repro.....obviously if the lenses say REPRODUCTION or say that they are an "officially licensed product of "X" oil company", or have a modern production date somewhere on the face, they are without a doubt reproductions. It takes time to learn what to look for, and if you don't have any globe knowledge you should really get out to shows and auctions and meet people who do know to share some knowledge.

I read somewhere you tell by the notches in the lens. I don't remember what it said.

Nope....nothing to do with notches....shallow notches are for Capco bodies, deeper notches go on glass bodies, some have none at all......

I bought the globe at the estate sale. It has the original ring. Screws are old. Milk glass and lenses are aged. What does Hull 11-35 mean at the bottom? Its about 16 inches. What is the value?
