McColl Frontenac Products sign - real or fake?

My Bro in law came across this sign near him and offered to get it for me but was unsure about its authenticity - most I've seen have a black band around the border but I'm by no means an expert. I think it's about 24" or so around but hard to tell from the picture. It's about the height of a single "pane" of a garage door as you can see in the pic. It's in the absolute middle of nowhere so unless the current owner got ripped off it has me thinking it's real. Not too far from Canada either.
