This is a seldom-seen Wisconsin State Association of Garage Operators sign. This porcelain sign dates to the teens or very early 1920’s. It is 18” square, and is designed to be displayed on member service garages that offered car and truck repair back in the day.

The Wisconsin Association of Garage Operators was an early, statewide organization that modeled itself after the AAA. The advertising or marketing implication of a repair shop being a member of the group was that they were a professional shop that could be trusted. From my research, I believe the organization was formed in the early teens and continued into the late 1930’s.

This single-sided sign is in very good condition. It hangs in a diamond shape. Three colors. Very nice color and gloss, with no fading. I have had this sign for over 35 years, and have never seen another one.

The price is $1,150, plus the shipping. Thanks for looking. John

No, Randy, I would have noted any indication of a sign manufacturer in my posting. That line at the bottom just says, "Property of Wisconsin Association of Garage Operators". Obviously, they never got this one back! Thanks for asking, though. John

Hi, Gang, Are you going to the Miller auction in Tomah, Wisconsin on Nov. 30? I live just 65 miles northeast of Tomah in Stevens Point. Come take a look at this nifty sign. John
