Besides the place where the discharge hose goes, what is the function of the "can" like object on the top of the discharge pipe?

I know that there is a top cap missing and maybe a vertical vent that is probably near impossible to replace.

If you have a photo of a complete Bowser 101, please post.

I sent you the best I had via Facebook and that was from Jacks book. These old curb side kerosene pumps are cool but not everyone is into them and I am unaware of any places that makes repop parts for them. It appeared that the canister with name on it is missing its top.

I appreciate the Facebook photo. Yes, the can lid is missing. Some call curbside pumps boat anchors. I like some of them.
