Can someone pleeeease help me out and post any pics of a Wayne 515 with the skins off. I have a 515 that needs a little help, and I don't have another one to look at right now.

Are there no conduit frame poles like a 615? I see in a few pics on OldGas there may be some skinny rods holding it up. If so, how many are there? In the one I currently have it looks like there are broken pieces of flat bar stock. Did these go from the base to the bottom of lower jar casting, or did a farmer just add these for support?

Any pics of a 515 without the skins would be greatly appreciated, if anyone has any.

The 515 skins are what hold the pump up, there are no internal pipes like in the 615

Jerry and Jack,

Thank you very much for the replies. The help is greatly appreciated. Jack I did already look at your website. There are two parts in the 515 diagram that have me partially confused. they are Part #142 overflow pipe and Part #125 conduit pipe. They both look like something that had some sort of structural significance. Please let me know if I am wrong.

Does this help? My 515 has 3 all-thread bolts that are approximately 5 1/2’ long.

So are those rods in Bruce’s restoration from the factory and only in certain 515 models? Because as Jerry mentioned, the skins are what hold the pump up.

Another question arose while I was tinkering with this pump. Bolting the skins to the upper and lower base is no problem, but how do you bolt the skins together along the two vertical seams? Once the skins are on, you cant reach 5’ up from the bottom and hold a nut??? Most pumps I have dealt with have the little tabs on the outside that you just bolt together. This pump has holes drilled through one skin and into the other skins recessed holes. (This one is tough to explain, unless you know what I’m talking about).

And here’s the two pipes in Jacks literature that I asked about earlier (red arrows). Do they provide any structural stabilization. I heard they do not. The pipe on the left sure looks like the one in Bruce’s restoration. I can definitely tell you that there are NOT three mounting holes cast into the base like a 615, there is only one (and none broke off). Thoughts???

The one on the left is a support rod. The one I have has three of them and they are half inch diameter my best guess. The one on the right looks like the electrical conduit judging by the connector on the bottom.

The side flanges on mine were threaded 1/4", No nuts were needed

Attached its a picture of the base on mine, I see the one hole in the base but the top casting has no matching attachment point so I don't know where it would attach if there was a pipe

Steve--One side of the skins should have a flat strap welded along the length of the inside of the skin , and it should have drilled and tapped holes to accept the screws that hold the 2 skin sections together.

Wow. All excellent excellent info. My skin does have the flat bar welded up the entire length. I guess I didn’t notice the holes were threaded (mine are pretty rusty, I’ll have to run a tap through).

As for the support rod(s), I don’t see anywhere where they would attach, except for one of them. I’m guessing there was a design change from one to three at some point. My base looks exactly like 42Packard’s, with one hole for a rod.

Ogle, you are right, the pipe on the right is the conduit.
