Can someone educate me, and even show pictures of the difference between shallow notches and deep notches on globe lenses?
Is it a visible difference?
Are the two interchangeable between plastic and glass globe bodies? If not, why not.
Definitely appreciate your help/expertise.👍

In addition to the different depths of the notches, lenses made to go on glass bodies were almost exclusivly made with double strength glass.
Most single strength lenses have wide, squared off notches whereas lenses made for glass bodies have deeper, thinner notches to allow clearance for the mounting bolts.
I am unable to provide photos at this time - but I'm sure someone else on here will.

It is generally unwise to try to mount lenses made for CAPCO bodies on glass.
Usually you can't as there is not room to install the mounting bolts.
If you can, and the fit is too tight, you take the chance of breaking a lens when they expand when heated by the light bulb when illuminated.

Thank you Jim.
I never noticed a difference in the cut out until I read your post.
I have pictures. 1 & 2 - single Sinclair Power-X lens. It's heavier, a thicker glass & that does not have the square notches.
3 & 4 - single Sinclair 100 Octane lens. The glass is not as heavy or thick, but it does have the square notches.

So I'm not sure which goes where. Does the square notch or the more rounded notch go on Glass Globes?

You can take a cut off grinding wheel mounted in a drill and grind the notch deeper in the lens so it will fit on a glass body globe Be careful and go slow.

And keep it wet.
But before you do, lay the lens on the body mounting surface and make sure it will lay flat.
A lot of the CAPCO lenses aren't curved enough to lay flat.
If it rocks, don't bother to try and mount it.
Nine times out of ten, it will eventually break.
