Did a search of Oldgas and did not find a thread on Oil Can spouts. Has anyone done one?
Only found a few scattered short discussions.

If not I want to start one in Showcase.

Been away living a busy life for a few years, have more time now so I am back.
I cleaned out some cobwebs in my basement and pulled out my collection of over 120 different ones.
Plus would like to see some unique ones others have.

Wanted to check before I start a repeat.
Chuck

That is a nice looking spout. Could you show a picture of it on a can? I bet it looks good that way.

This what I have. They are plain and common. Hopefully we get more participation.

I have less than 50 can punches.
What I have collected are the different makes & models of the "Made in the USA' type.
There are numerous brands & models of can punches.
The two old looking punches in the center of the bottom row are Huffy 73-B & 73-C although I can't see any differences.

The lowly oil can spout, we find them at yard sales and flea markets for a quarter, but there was a lot of imagination used over the years; and some will command a pretty decent price due to rarity and uniqueness.
I recently put on a display at work, and my take away was the younger employees typically didn't find any interest. I'm sure, because they had never used one. Just like road maps.

Ingenuity being the mother of invention, there were a lot of ideas that popped up over the 70 or so year life span of their use.
For all sizes of oil cans.

My rule, when I was collecting them, was it had to be designed to "open" and dispense a can of oil. I have a few minor exceptions in my collection like a church key that says Montgomery Ward Oil. But that, next to a screw driver was probably the most common tool used.

Dave;
Amazing how so many of the typical can punches were made that look similar but all have just a slightly different design.
You could try to match up 12 different ones with a hole already in a can for a match and none will fit perfectly, except the exact one used.
Kind of like going to Great Clips for a hair cut, everyone gets the same hair cut, but we all look different.

I did a lot of searching for the post mounted one. Just an opener.
99% of the ones I ran across were for early POP cans, before the days of pull tabs, not oil cans.
There is a measurable difference in size. I knew they existed, only because I had seen a photo of a guy using one.

Edit: Flexible one is top, got the description entered wrong
Pole mount is the bottom one.

Matt, per your request. Spout was designed to measure a partial quart.
The black one is a Mazurflo, like the one pictured above on the card.
The red one pictured above is Kleenflo made by Mazurflo Saranac, Mich.

The swingspout oil cans are in common use today, but these babies were built for business.

The spout looks good on a can. Your collection is really nice with a good variety. Thanks for posting.
