The Sinclair Station, (dinosaur), is still there, only a garage now. It's located in Weeki Wachee Florida. I will get a picture next time I'm in the area.

My WS Mobilgas shield came from Hale, MI too Steve.....I always dreamed MY sign was the one shown in that postcard, lol!! wink

Who knows.....other than it could be any number of them that I know are out there as the story behind mine is it was one of 6 or 8 found buried in a stack at a little bulk plant in Hale years ago. A neat story to go along with nice signs!
Take care,
Darin

Just spent several hours going from page 1 thru 132, WOW,WOW,WOW! Really cool stuff, thanks so much for posting. The Sinclair dinosaur station on page 79 and 118 is still in operation as Harold Auto, it's located in Weeki Wachee Florida. Of course it's no longer a Sinclair station. I will get a picture next time I'm in the area.

One of my other ones was buried with a bunch of others at a bulk plant as well. Probably found with yours. Unfortunately that one has a baseball size hit on the edge from the backhoe that found them.

those signs possibly could be made out of masonite as photo is dated '42 (WWII)

we may never see another one as this material didn't do well with the elements .. ... cool

Maybe a member will let us know if they've ever seen one of the Macmillan signs.

I am pretty sure that is a McMillan gas station in California. Conoco did not have any gas stations in California (in that time period), but they sold motor oil at gas stations of other brands....such as this one. I often see a photo of the gas station with a Conoco triangle hanging at some other brand's station. You can see a Kendall oil and Quaker state oil sign as well as the Conoco (oil) sign in this photo.

By the way, that is the first Tokheim 36 (ADC) display pump that I have seen. Very cool!

Here is another example of a gas station brand that also sells Conoco motor oil. This is also in California (Los Angeles)....a Shell station selling Conoco motor oil, showing the Conoco triangle.
