I have restored a Bowser 585. However, the door latches don't seem to be working exactly right since when I try to roll the pump around the shop, the doors will pop open. I have spent some time on this and believe the release handles are correctly installed and the catch cross bar. If anyone has experienced this and can steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate the help. I am wondering if this is a hinge alignment problem, perhaps some missing washers on the latch levers or damage to the levers that I don't have an undamaged one to compare to.

I have never done this, but I’ve owned several 585’s. I always wondered if you could weld the door catches to the rod that they are on so there is no play in them. Or would that mess up the design????
