Well it's that time again. Road Trip time that is.Break out those cameras and share your road finds with us here on FATW We like to see Stations abandoned or converted to other uses. Pumps in the wild just waiting to be picked. Antique malls or flea markets with Petro stuff. Petro stuff on display. Anything else we might like to see that is Petro related that you find in your journeys. Here's an example of a little station in Escalon, CA that is now a barber shop.

This is a quiz for Poorman! Automotive author, Tim Howley, wrote articles about El Camino Real in Old Cars Weekly. Here is a photo of an abandoned gas station in Buellton that he took 31 years ago. Can Curt identify the brand??

Yes, I believe that's "Crying Mary's" Shell station that was located on the north end of Highway 101, just north of the Dining Cars Cafe. According to local lore, they called it crying Mary's because the owners wife, Mary Constable, was a constant complainer, especially when she learned that the station would be bypassed by the realingment of the highway in 1949. Here's a photo of the station when it was in operation (around 1948 I believe). How did I do Al?

Curt your resources are amazing. Love the "Crying Mary" moniker! Here is a nifty old station that I photographed yesterday while on a "poppy" tour of the Antelope Valley. It is on the corner of San Francisquito Canyon Road and Elizabeth Lake Road just east of Elizabeth Lake in the San Andreas Fault Zone. Wonder what it looked like 26.5 years ago? I took the following two photos while I was mapping the geology along the fault zone. Note how the station at "Andrade Corner" looked then. More important check out the B-D Vizo pump. Should have made an offer but I didn't want to spent the $50 it would take to pry that loose!

DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE VISIBLE THERE, BUT THE GLOBE WAS REALLY FADED AND THE REST WAS NOT FAR BEHIND...STILL IN BUSINESS AND LOOKING CLASSIC! DOC @ THE AMERICAN GARAGES

For those who like younger pumps here's a nice pair incarcerated at The Rock Cafe in Lake Hughes, CA. The general store and gas station haven't operated for years but the cafe makes great burgers.
