Just wondered if you had any idea of what it was worth when you saw it at the sale. A very nice red ripple body like this one will bring in the range of $3000 plus minus a few hundred. The lenses are worth $300 to $500 for the set, so you are looking at about $3500. I am sure you got a "steal" on it. Great find!

I had an idea what it was worth and drove 400 miles round trip to get it. I am very happy to begin my collection with this find.
Thanks

Super nice first globe! You definitely started with the best. I do think most globe collectors go their whole life only getting dreams of a globe like that. Mike

It was actually an estate auction that I was told about. The globe was used as a lamp in a bedroom in the house. It was very odd because it was the only gas,oil item in the house. I would love to know how the elderly woman aquired it.
Thanks
Mark

I do have a question. What is the best way to protect this globe. Has anyone built a display case? If so, can you post some pics?
Thanks
Mark

The only way to protect those globes is to let me have it and I'll insure it is properly displayed and protected!!! I wouldn't do this for just anybody so you know you are getting a good deal. LOL Mike
