I picked up an old service station bell and I was wondering if there are sources for some of the vintage electrical parts out there. The coil has no continuity. The numbers that I can read on the side are 3266 9. It's the type that has the plastic tube with the metal slug in the center. I know it's a long shot and I appreciate any leads or advice.

Milton does sell parts for their bells. Not sure it will help you though. Here is a link to their parts page. Milton Bell PartsGood luck.

Randy, I believe this new member is going to get the part he needs, thanks to you. The defective part the guy is looking for is actually the bell's striker solenoid. When activated, the solenoid kicks out the striker rod that then rings the bell. The Milton site you referred the new guy to does have replacement solenoid's available for less than forty bucks. John

Unfortunately, the Milton and Knipp parts don't seem to be interchangeable. The Milton coil is significantly smaller. Bummer.

Yes, the guts are concealed, so think about "engineering" a modification of the MILTON solenoid that's available. Best of luck, John

So, I went looking for a new solenoid coil that would work and found one. I used an ASCO 9XX coil, for anyone looking for a replacement part. It's a little shorter in height, but the bore diameter works for the striker tube. I also replaced that plastic tube with an aluminum one. Mine had been heated up and became brittle (I broke it). I wrapped the tube in electrical tape and put a rubber cap on the bottom end. It works well now. Thanks for the help, guys.
