Guys, I am new to this, but loving every minute of it. Recently bought by first pump - a Tokheim 300 with completely restored exterior to Texaco.
I have an opportunity to buy a Tok 39 locally for $275. It looks complete and easily restorable. Any advice on the price and restoration?

Morning Billy, the price isn't to far off but offer 200.00 you can come up , as far as rebuilding it , its a fun pump. you can lift the doors straight up and they come off, lossen all the machine bolts from the frame, then you have 4 long bolts that hold the top on remove them then the top, then all the outside parts. hose bezels, things like that , take the side skin bolts out now and remove sides, the rollers can be removed at this point , then gut it , remove the computer and spray with wd-40 lots of it , remove the site glass , clean and lay it out to start the rebuilding , have fun . when you get to different points email someone they will help. thats what this sites about. mark your parts.

Thanks. The next question is what to restore it to. I like the Sinclair color schemes and Dino logo. Any thoughts on what looks best on the 39?

Dwaine,
I'm actually a transplant to GA from Anaheim Hills, CA - right in aquaelvis' neck of the woods...
Love the South, but I'm a West-coaster through and through. Will "get-er-done" as you suggest. Thanks for the welcome.

Here is a link to the Shop Talk topic "Tokeim 39 Pump of the Month" http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000073.html It should give you some ideas for what you could do with this pump. Or do it as an independent gas brand from your area. ------------------ Jim "Oldgas" PottsYour host and moderator

Nice photos of the pump of the month 39. Gives me some ideas.
Pardon the newbie question - the A-62 was a National pump. How does the National top fit the 39 body? Was this a common practice when these pumps were in use?

About the time these two pumps came out Tokhiem had bought National and the pumps were basiclly the same. you can change them around. National had a longer face glass and tokhiem a shorter one. nationals site glass was in the face and tokhiems was on the side.

I am trying to buy an A-62. It looks exactly the same as a 39 except for the top. The pump I am trying to get is missing some parts and I have been told the 39 parts will all interchange except for the top. The National is a Tokheim pump branded as a National. Also the 39's I have seen all have sight glasses in the front.
Drive with Care and Buy Sinclair!! I buy Sinclair globes, signs, cans, ect.
