New to the game, but been interested in restoring gas pumps for many years! Have rebuilt several pre-WWII vehicles. 40 Ford Panel was my baby!

Work for DE Motor Fuel Tax Administration for over 20 years.

Just acquired a Bennett 541 Electric Gas Pump in rough condition and looking for sources for parts and information.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Let me be the first to say welcome. Glad to see you jump in and play with us! The 541 is a great pump and there are plenty of places to find parts. First... look under the beginning of the site under link directory and you will see "full line of petroliana" and "pump restoration parts". You will see plenty of places like Webers, Vic's, Gas pump Heaven and ect. These guys will send you a catalog and there are some of the items you will need. Second go to the beginning of the site and look under events, there you might find a swap meet near you and there are usually parts there but beware you might buy more than you went there looking for. Take care and good luck... keep us posted on the progress.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Back at ya Jarvis!

Started reading the various post and only got down a few before I got notice of your reply. Thanks for the quick reply.

Working for the DE MFTA I've been around Motor Fuel suppliers for years and have wanted to jump in for quite some time.

Actually was given the Bennett 541 and have to pick it up about 50 miles from home.

Don't want to go to fast, so will be doing some research first. Have not been to Hershey or Carlise, PA for years. NO project vehicle for quite some time.

I'll be around for awhile - Again, thanks for the welcome!!

Reading the various post, I've notice that most are from members in the Central states!

Is this true to the hobby or just what I've seen on the few post I've read so far?

Got Lucky!

Have a little Glass Etching business on the side and complete a mirror for a friend and delivered it in Wilmington, DE.

Noticed some old vehicles and misc. petro item in the back yard and just mentioned that I would like to restore one some day.

The owner said "Why not Now?" He asked me if I wanted the Bennett 541 and if I had a way to get it home. I couldn't say YES fast enough! Found out he was moving soon and wanted to downsize the move! Luck ME!

I have the equipment to restore the pump, but never looked into the hobby before. SO, that's how I started looking for a good site on the internet and found this site!

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to the jungle, SC!! Bennett 541's are cool pumps. (OK, just about all 6 ft. pumps are cool!) I've got to go pick mine up one of these days. It's a lil rough but some elbow grease & a few parts and some $$ and you have a work of art! Glad to have another new member on board!!

My first pump restoration was a Bennett 541, too. It came out pretty well but aligning the doors was tough because the frame was a bit tweaked. I'd love to post a picture of my Texaco version of a 541 if someone could help me do so. Good luck
