Well Rob, I can't beat that haul of electric pumps, but man did I get the visibles and pre-visibles. I'm changing the name of the museum to The Poor Mans Visible Pump Museum (just as soon as Dick tells me what I own).

When you go to pick up old school pumps it helps to have an old school Tin Man to help you sort the parts. After a lengthy visit to the U Haul dealer on Saturday morning we finally met up with Dick in Carpenteria, California to load the pumps.

That's Dick wrasselin' with the rope (at least he knows how to tie knots) and my brother Chris assisting with the dolly.

I thought I was buying 9 visibles pumps and some misc. parts. It turned out to be sixteen pumps as best I can count. This included some farm pumps, curb pumps and pre-visibles, along with two restored visible pumps. Here's a line up of some of the frames, skins and pumps.

My son Byron liked the curb pumps. Just don't let this monster tip over on you.

I'll post some more pictures, just have to post again to fit them in.

I wish I could tell you what I bought, but I have to rely on Dick for that. Here are the frames of the visibles. There is one lying on the ground that didn't have the base on it. Didn't bring home the restored pumps yet. We ran out of space and time.

When your hauling a load of pumps it helps to have a first class Pump Pit Crew. Here are the helpers from L to R, Dick Bennett, my brother Chris, Willy Brown (custom car builder and seller of the pumps), my nephew Ryan and my son Byron. I like to bring the young guys along and let them learn from the old school (me included).

I have some individual shots of some of the interesting pumps that I will post after Dick tells us about the visibles and how he had to wait two hours for us to finally show up and how he had to do all the work and move the pumps out to the street and how these young guys don't know jack diddily about gas pumps and if it weren't for guys with his knowledge and experience we still wouldn't know the difference between a gas pump and a water pump and...well you get the picture.

Great Going Curt!!!!

I talked to Willie about 6 months ago, got a lead from a local Snapon dealer that he was selling out. When I spoke to Willie over the phone he wanted about 1500.00 for each visible. I asked him if he had any $500-$600.00 pumps and he said only one a short Wayne. I think Dick had the same lead about a month before me , but he to did not move on it.

I love the photos GREAT SCORE...... Now you have the same sickness I have. It will only get worse as time marches on . LOL

MORE PICTURES PLEASE!!!!

Rob

Willy & I had all but 3 heavy pumps [ BD 56, G&B 66 & a WAYNE 276] moved out to the driveway BEFORE the crew showed up. There was just enough room for a dolly between the travel trailer and a tree to move the pumps on wet ground. The space is behind Chris left shoulder in last picture
LETS DO IT AGAIN, ANYTIME !!!!

Willy said he picked up the pumps from a farmers wife in the Central Valley. Apparently the guy liked the old pumps, but when he died his wife didn't. Willy has had them for awhile, but finally decided that he wasn't going to get to them and had some other projects he wanted to start. He called me off of my throw away ad and we made a deal.

Okay Dick, tell them what the visibles are so I can show them the other pumps.

Here are some of the non-visible pumps that were interesting to me.

This is a little Bowser curb pump that opens up. Like R2D2.

I think that this pump would make a great smoker. Think of all those Kansas City ribs we could cook up in this thing.

I have more pictures to post but it's getting late and I have to rest my aching back before I show you the "heavy weights". More tomorrow (for some of you that's already today).

Dang Dick you figured us out. Thanks to the "Tin Man" Dick Bennett I have some labeled photos to identify all of this iron. Here's what we got (plus some others I haven't posted yet.)

Here are the heavy weights. Dick just picked these up and threw them over his shoulder to load them. Operators never had to worry about these getting stolen unless you had ten or tweleve of your closest friends.

I call this one the "bullet" pump.

This one is the "coke bottle". Actually would look kind of cool painted up as a coke bottle, eh Doc? I'll ship it to you with the Red Truck.

Interesting pumps despite their weight. Don't know what I'm going to do with them since I can't move them.

those HEAVY pumps go right where they first land at home. you screw an old mobil sign on them & there they sit. done, until someone wants to buy them & then they take them home & drop them where they will sit & so on & so forth.

lots of nice pumps in that haul. i see alot of work ahead of you! like your 2005 year is filled!!!
