something a little different than gas pumps. the island light is one of vic's 66 and the top of it i built myself.i.ve seen pictures of old stations with lights simular to this.the oil can cabinet is one of the selloil racks. i took the metal sign out of it and put a glass sign in it and lit it up. thanks for looking [This message has been edited by GAS ALLEY (edited 07-02-2004).]

Nice job on the cabinet, very creative. Did you have the glass custom made or did you use a decal on a piece of milk glass?

it is a piece of glass i etched in my beadblast cabinet,then i had the decal shop make the decals from the origonal tin signs that were on can rack.i trimmed the glass with aluminum u channel.i had to cut some metal away inside cabinet and put a brace across just below glass and then mounted the light in it.

GreaseMonkey, Do you have Jack's book on gas pump identification? There is alot of photos,values and circa information about oil racks. Modern Metals made alot of these with the roll up doors (they called them sel-oil)in the early 50's.
