I have a 10" version of the round black shell
sign that was definately made in the 6" size.
This is supposed to be a truck door sign. It says CAL. METAL ENAM. CO. on the back.
Very heavy shelving. The book, Encyclopedia
of Porcelain Enamel Advertising Says it was made. But, this book had authentication done by a Dave Justice who I think got in trouble repoping signs and selling them as real. I
don't know if thats true, but I can get my money back if I can prove it is a repop. Anyone know of any test that could be used to determine age? Or does anyone have any info on this sign. Please Help!

http://www.calcoastlabs.com/ I have used them before to check globe lenses. They can get a small, very small sample from the sign and check with electron microscopes and there is one other test they do. What was used to make the sign should have a very nasty form of lead in the paint. Lead sulfate I think. Hope that helps.

Thanks! I'll try them when the west coast wakes up.
