Well, here is my first attempt at painting. It seems clear-coat and I don't get along for some reason, so I'll be practicing my Karate Kid routine, sand-a left and sand a right!

Daveb, if that is your first attempt you have done great. On some clear coats I don't use as much reducer as it calls for. It just takes practice and your off to a great start. Richard

My wife bought a couple of paint guns for me for Christmas so I could do these myself. I thought I would use my old Kawasaki which is also black as a guinea pig. That turned out excellent, so I figured this shouldn't be any different. All the colors went on fine, but the clear is at least a 15 footer if not 20. I don't know what I did differently, but I'll keep at it until I get it right. I'll post new pics if I get it to where I'm happy with it!

all clear looks bad till its wet sanded and buffed out i hate the looks of orange peel and you will have that with out buffing runs are hard to get out it takes tons of pratice and a clean area for painting clear will always give you the most trouble .have fun dice..

Looks pretty nice in the pic. But I know what you mean. I would like to have five minutes of instruction. I just sprayed dupont 42470s sealer. It supposedly lays right on. Mine looked like heck and I am sanding it. Don't know what happens now when I try base on it..

Nice pump

Larry

Check out the forums in autobody101.com. It's an excellent source of info for beginner to pro and materials to tools. It's sort of like you guys of the paint community.

Dave,
I think you're being harder on yourself than you should....I think it looks great!

Glad we got to visit on Saturday. I need to stop by and take a look at your goodies some time.

Chuck-

You'll have to believe me that the camera did the paint a favor, it really was bad. Too late to show you though, I've been busy sanding! You're welcome to come over anytime, just give me a call.

Well, I'm getting happier with this clearcoat. Definitely not professional level, but it's a far cry from my last one. I think I'll let the skins cure for a week or so and then get the whole thing put together. I'll post another pic when I get it assembled. HAGD!!

Great looking pump, we are amatuers also but if it satisfies us that is all that matters. If you are happy with it, keep shooting.

Phil

Thanks, Phil

Well, here it is just about done-

I'm waiting on a brass 90 elbow to attach the hose and that should do it. It's been a long time coming, but I'm definitely happy with it. Thanks to all for the encouragement and advice. HAGD
