I generate the leads on the West Coast and Doc gets the spoils! Arrrrggghhhhhhhhhhh! Spent the morning at the Shabby Chic Flea Market and came home with these shabby finds. I'm looking for cans and all I can find is paper. Pretty much covered the entire west coast with these maps, all the way to Canada. Especially happy about the Signal map. Did finally break down and buy a water can (cheap enough for the Poor Man) and a "shabby chic" Zerolene can (it was real cheap). Started a little debate over some of the photos of my Richfield book from last week so here's the official Mobil colors for those of you that need to know. Got this at the shabby chic market too. These qualify as TOTW (Trades of the Week). Made Don Sherwood a very expensive copy of the Richfield book and he traded me these goodies for it. (Thanks Don!) Okay sorry for hogging the post. Damn you Doc, you can stealer. Should have driven the 3,000 miles myself and paid too much for those cans. How much would that gas have cost?

POORMAN, IT WAS $8.00 TOTAL TO CROSS THE THROGGS NECK BRIDGE TWICE AND I USED ABOUT $7 IN GAS ON THE 88 MILE ROUND TRIP. HE WAS CLAIMING HE GOT ON EBAY $52 EACH ON THE GULFPRIDE H.D. SELECT CANS WHICH HE HAD THE MOST OF. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MY DOUBLES I WILL SELL THEM TO YOU AT COST. EMAIL ME IF INTERESTED. I DID NOT BUY ANY VEEDOLS AS YOU CAN SEE SINCE I GOT 62 OF THE SAME CAN LAST SUMMER....REMEMBER? I HAD MUCH BIGGER DREAMS IN MY HEAD THE WHOLE DRIVE UP UNTIL HE MENTIONED SELLING ON EBAY.....IT WAS LIKE I DROVE OFF A CLIFF. STILL, I DROVE HOME SOMEWHAT HAPPY! GOTTA LOVE THIS HOBBY AND THE SURPRISES YOU ENDURE! THANKS AGAIN FOR THE LEAD! DOC @ TAG/WEST

Picked up this Lust-Ro-Lac can with a nice car graphic. The Bru-Lux chart sign is for furniture, automobiles and boats. It is unusual for having round paint samples. NOS Thanks to 5 Quart Don for the Bardahl. The Patton's brochure shows a logo later used by PPG. Must have been bought out by them at some point. This is the one that has Maureen worried about me. She says I've gone off the deep end when I buy empty cardboard boxes. Has a 1923 date on it. Gotta be good to have, right? Hey Jim, you have any interest in that Mobil paint chart?
I'll send it to you if you want it.
Also have a can of Mobil M & F enamel Niagara Blue 20-B-8 with a so-so paper label same vintage.
Not quite 70 years old so I don't know if it will work for you.
Rex, looks like it's dated 7-65

Doc and Curt, I got two almost complete boxes of the Gulpride HD select a couple of years ago. 48 cans or so, and I started to monitor them on feebay. They are not all that common, and I have a top note of $96 and a low of $30 for a mint can. Others were $75 with rust spots on back, $48 dented on the side. There is one up now with a day left, at $7.50 - we'll see where it ends, 7130482519. I sold most of mine here in Sweden for around $40 a piece. regards, Claes

The feebay listing is the guy that Doc bought the cans from. Guess no matter what I pay for it postage will be alot cheaper than the gas.
Think I'll head up towards Canada instead, now that I have the maps. Besides, those gas geeks up there in the PNW seem to have a lot of nice stuff.
If I avoid the Bay Area I won't have to pay any tolls in California either.
You guys think I'd get lost if I used 1935-1945 maps?
ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
