Looks like the storage area for the back of a delivery tank [wagon or early truck].

Remember that lady that wanted like 60,000.00 dollars for that pump and cabinet on e-bay? Is it a pump?

here's the story, my wife's grandfather's(frank), brother was a fuel/gas/supplies/dealer/delivery driver in the mid 30's in illinois. somehow, frank got the cabinet off the back of the truck and used it in the old barn for storage for years. my wife remembers seeing it when she stayed with them in summers. after the gas collecting started, she remembered it and we made the trip to visit all the relatives and brought it home along with an old gasboy farm pump. the cabinet is about 44 inches wide, 22 inches high and 18 inches deep. metal top, and all the wood is a full inch thick. pretty heavy!! but this is the only 'red ball' item i have seen. and now i will have to have more, can't have a cabinet lonely. so if anyone can give me any info.....thanks
