After my week started of pretty bad and the Collector's auction was a major bust, things kinda went right today. My dad called me around 11:30am and said that I needed to meet a gentleman in a town 5 miles away to look at some gas pumps that we have tried to by for the better part of 10 years. I met him at the bulk plant at 1:00pm to look at what I had seen a dozen other times. Inside was 1 tall 39, 6ft Gilbarco, short 39, and three shot Bennets. After I looked at them and shot him a price, he asked me if I had time to go to thier other bulk plant....and the answer was yes.

All the doors are with the pumps and about 8 extra meters, some newer but still in the box.

This next plant was about 7 miles away, which was a long trip for me to have to wait.

After the ride to the next bulk plant and I entered it, nothing major jumped olut at me and was let down a little. The guy said that he had to leave and I could go through what ever, and take out what ever I wanted. After digging through literally 5ft of stuff, I found a tall 39 and two farm pumps. There were a few cans left over and some really nice DX piant cans as well. After going through the rafters, all kinds of thing were piling up. DX pump plates, Fire and Sky Chief pump plates, nozzles, two Texaco stars, a box of lettering, and some odds and ends. Came across two DX oil cam racks that had never been used, still in the box and some DX gas station display items. Then I found what could have been a great find, a Texaco Marine Lubricants oil rack, with the sign.(see pics)

To quote the great Peter Boyle who played Frank the dad on "Everybody Loves Raymond,"

"HOLY CR*P"

Would love to see that Texaco sign cleaned up. Post more pics when you can. Congrats.

Chad, I stopped by your dads house on monday after the sale at sullivans was over, I missed you but your dad told me the bad news.Finding a lode like that makes you feel a little better.Looks like you got some really good stuff. It always makes me feel better for a collector to find this stuff instead of a scavenger. Good luck, Norm Huff, Clinton Ill.
