I want to thank Lance for doing the majority of the work with last months featured globes.

This month we'll feature globes from Chevron (Standard Oil Co. of California) and it's affiliates. Here is a list of the companies involved:
Standard Oil Stations,Inc.

Standard Oil Dealers.

Chevron Gas Stations.

The California Company.(Calso-Rocky Mountain area).

California Oil Company. (Calso- North-East area).

PDQ.

Signal(Signal was part of SoCal from the late 40's through the mid-60's).

There are over 60 globes from these companies. If I missed any affiliates let me know.

This Kyso globe would have been in use from 1936-'40. It's not too exciting to look at, but it's very rare. Its my understanding that there are only 2 or 3 known to exist.

These globes belong to Rex Benson. They're all from Standard Oil of Kentucky.

The first is an ultra rare one piece etched Crown Gasoline globe that was used from 1917-'20.

Kyso on metal body. '36-'40
Kyso 3pc. glass '36-'40
Super Crown Extra '56-'61
Crown Standard KY Gasoline on metal '33-'36
Super Crown Extra...I don't have any history on this globe.
Standard (Aviation) '47-'61
Kyso Green '30-'36

Crown Standard KY Gasoline 3pc. '33-'40
Standard '40-61

Standard (Aviation) '47-'61 (close up of the same globe thats in the group shot).

Crown Ethyl Gasoline '26-'33

Crown Ethyl '40-'46
Crown Diesel was probably used in the 40's & 50's

Rex has done a great job of putting together a collection of rare globes from this company. Thanks for sharing!

Good Morning Bob, Question, Theres been some contradiction by the GLOBE GOD on touching up with paint. whats your thought on this. He says one time that touching up takes away from the value of the globe, not even considering the rarity it . But then He says (speeking of one of his globes) that its OK, if done properly it will add to the value. the reason I sak this , is two of my Seaside lenses had lettering painted on them many years ago and when I got them a lot of the paint had flaked off. and you could see where it was by the discoloring in that area . so I had them touched up to hide the discoloring. Whats your view on it.
OH, by the way Rex and Bob. nice globes.

This AWWWSOME PDQ was sold at San Diego, Ca. a few years ago. It only had 1 lens, and is 15in. Buyer unknown.

DanS711 sent in this Calso globe. "This is an original globe that was off one of the pumps at our family owned gas station and has been stored since it was removed."

Thanks for sharing it, Dan.

Rex Benson sent this picture of his Standard Marine globe. This globe is from Standard of Kentucky (Kyso).

This globe was used in the 50's. This same design was used by Standard of Indiana.
Thanks for sharing it Rex!

Come on guys, were not even half way there. Get those globe pictures posted! If it weren't for Rex and Aumann Auctions we'd really be hurting this month.

Thanks to those who share their globe pictures for the rest of us to enjoy.
Bob
