I thought this might be an interesting topic for discussion. I hope it hasn't been posted recently. Anyway, I am curious what some of the record prices are that have been paid for signs, globes, cans, etc. Not necessarily for any/all items. Just the most expensive sign, globe, quart can, oil can, road map.

I'll start with some of my best recollections.

Sooner Queen Qt can - $2000 eBay
Texaco Dressing/Wax can(1920's with car/man) - $4200 eBay

That's a great subject !!! The Qckwork Metal Polish Can went for $4252.63 on 8-04-07. I witnessed the Chimney Cap in Columbus go for $28,600.00 I believe in 04 also. Along with the Michigan Maid Globe for $20,000.00 + some. I see this thread going out of the realm. LOL Here comes the B.S.

What do you guys think an original restored Tioga Globe on a reproduction wide glass body would go for on ebay.com? No chips, no cracks, no fades. This is the photo on the plastic body it was found on before it was put on the glass body.

55,000 bucks for a Texaco "Aviation Gasoline" one piece cast globe in a private sale. About 1 year ago. The Texaco globe was the only one ever found so far. However, if they made one....... well who knows.......

I personally sold a rare Chevrolet bowtie porcelain neon in 2002 for 33,500. But I don't think that is a record.

Thanks for straightening me out on the Texaco Can price.

Pogogas, what was unique about the Fire Chief lenses?

Houston,

It was the only real one known, I believe. All of the fire chief lenses that you see everywhere are fantasy items.

Wes is right, it was the only one known to exist, only ever seen in old photos.
