Art Ogle sent this picture and a few words about it. Very cool Art!

I took this picture back in 1986... Imagine it all restored with a full set of Wayne 60's or Tokheim 39"s serving up the goods. Art Ogle

You know, back in the days of this sign and these letters gas was not of as high a quality as it is now. I suppose that an accompanying note as "Good Luck" was appropriate!! LOL!!!!

Speaking of the "QC" of the petro industry fifty years ago, I have many 40's and 50's five gallon NOS oil cans, never been opened. I'm still clearing land at my property in the country (aka Green Acres) and occasionally when I have a big pile of debris that I am burning I'll jump start it with some of the oil in these cans. It's anywhere from 20 wt. - 90 wt. and I must admit it looks a little "impure", shall we say, much like my mother-in-law's Thanksgiving gravy.

I'm not knocking on the past generation though because I realize the infancy of the oil industry in those days. The standards, rules and needs were much different.

JUST ANOTHER THOUGHT TO END THE WORK WEEK! Beer time, RIGHT!!!!!

Nice sign and letters, keep up the good work!!
Sincerely,

Neal Dunn gpf

The station is in Dallas,TX. Gloco used to have several of these deco style stations but the others are all gone now. A friend of mine bought the proprety a few years ago and last year put back up the pole sign out front. I will be going by there this afternoon so I will bust out a few color shots. The station is in an area of town that is under some serious "urban renewal" and I wonder if the rising property values will force him to sell out.
