HI Doc,it is real--verified by Scot--you know him as "Signal Oil" on this site.It also has the white outer edge--the repops that i have seen are red on the outer edge. Frank

Frank, The sign is definitely real. The originals have the white edge trim and measure exactly 12 inches. A few originals have been found without the white edge but are validated by the diameter, black back and position of the mounting holes (the repop mounting holes are closer to the edge).
Just curious...did you get a deal on it?? I'd say it's worth $500-$700 in that condition.

I'm sure it's original, but you can't go just by the white edge trim anymore. Here's a link to a 12 inch repop on ebay. If you look close you can see it has a white edge. http://cgi.ebay.com/SIGNAL-GASOLINE-PORC...1QQcmdZViewItem

Hey Mark, Good eye!! That's the first Signal repop sign I've seen with the thin white edge.
However, I'll bet if someone asked the seller of the repop for EXACT dimensions, that sign would measure 11 1/2" or 11 3/4". I doubt that it measures exactly 12 inches like the originals.

I just asked seller of the one on ebay these questions; What is the EXACT measurement of outside dia. ? What is the EXACT measurement of the inner red ring inside ? What color is the back ?
We'll see if I get an answer.
Their poor picture doesn't really show the WHITE edge. Almost looks like a glare. db

You know Dick, you might be right. It very well could just be glare of some kind. I certainly hope so.

This is the answers I received for above questions from seller:
11 3/4 inches outside diameter. Inner red circle is 1/4 inch. Back is solid white porcelain. Thanks.
