I picked this neat item up from a good friend of mine today. I have put it in line to restore for him (about 5th in line actually!!). Two things caught my eye, the neat little TEXACO porcelain sign and the name TEXACO that was cast into the main housing.    Thanks for looking! Neal

Doc, I just braved the cold, went outside and measured the diameter of this sign, 8".
The things we crazy guys do for this great hobby!!

Is that the original paint? If so it looks too good to restore. Can't beat a nice original.

That is a great Lubester, I was wondering about original paint also, if so I would scrub it up, set it between two chairs in my petro area and say "CHECK THIS OUT HUN!!"
My greatest coulda-woulda-shoulda to date was an original Sunoco Lubester at a local station, and I've never seen one I liked better...this one is close...IMO leave it, but hey I don't own it.

THANKS for all of the input and interest guys! Regarding how the sign mounts, if I recall correctly two screws at 6:00 and 12:00. So far as the paint; it's really not all that great PLUS he wants it "Texaco Fire Engine Red".

If there was enough interest I would make up some mounts for the signs.
I am not sure what they used but I would use a flanged blind bushing. That is to say a bushing made of 1/2 round bar or 3/8 then turn most of it down to 5/16, leaving about 3/8 long at 5/16 thick and a small flange of 1/2 in dia about 1/32 wide. Then on the flange end it is drilled and tapped to 1/4 in or #10..but not tapped right through.
To use. lay out your bolt pattern accurately, drill 5/16 hole, push in bushing and solder in place.
If the small signs are available it would be a nice touch... the bushings would be reasonable.
