This is gonna be the post I'll be putting the Benett 766 I'm restoring showing the process, things I need for it, and etc. So far its down to the bare frame and the computers almost done getting cleaned up. I've decided to sand in rather then sandblast it since our sandblaster is at our rental house with the stationary air compressor about 30 minutes down the road. Seems not to far away to go and sandblast it but its a rented out house so we have to cause as little disturbance as possible. I'll be putting some pictures up later tonight of what I've got done so far. Feel free to tell me any tips also. I'm going to do as professional of a restoration as it gets. Every square inch will be sanded and painted including the areas that you dont see and don't really matter if its sanded and done or not. I figure if I'm going to restore a pump, I might as well do the best possible restoration to it.

Heres some pictures of what I've done so far. I know its not much but been a bit busy lately helping my step-dad with his new gas room tiling the floor, fixing some holes, and such. But it's been a lot of fun so far and I should be getting it done a lot faster now that the rooms done.

Are you missing any parts for your Bennett pump? It looks like the reflectors on the door are missing for the ad glass. Let me know because i have 1 that i am parting out... or parted out. LOL It was hit on the side by a car or something when i got it. Not much left.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

I took everything off of the doors so I'm not sure as I dont know that much about gas pumps. They had reflectors? If you mean like reflectors that were on old speed limit signs then no. Guess you do learn something new everday.

Robert, I see the reflectors in the picture where it's all together. No not like the stop sign but to reflect the light onto the site glass.

Mike, Send me an e-mail petronut@aol.com

The reflector mounts to the inside of the door behind the ad glass.

I'll check if i do have it or not. I'm 90% sure I remember taking two of those off. Oh, and by the way along with Seth Robbins giving me free original parts for my pump Paddy(texaspelican), is going to powdercoat all of the inside parts that will require a bright silver for free!!! Man, you all never cease to astonish me.

Boy that pump sure looks familiar Robert! and the shop does too in that first photo! LOL! Glad to see you starting on it. It is complete, I remember looking over everything when it was here. Did anyone ever identify those unique 100 octane decals?? They sure would look good reproduced! It had "Billups" ad glass in it when I got it and I sold them to texaspelican. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Lot # 69A in Vic's auction has a tin pump plate sign of the same 100 octane logo on your pump. I had seen one for sale at a petro show last year and it may be the same sign. No info on what company used it.

100 OCTANE would have been aviation or race gas.

Pump was originally a Billups, it used to have the original Billups ad glass in it but they were sold to Paddy(texaspelican) before I bought the pump.
