Saturday was such I nice day that I did something I had wanted to do in awhile and that was go take pictures of stuff that I had seen around the city but didn't have my camera or the time. Hope you enjoy these as much as I had fun going to these places.
This pump is situated on I-70 and I have seen it several times but never been over to where it is at. Notice the chain around it.
This little station is out in the country in Grain Valley MO. The guy who owns it has a space in a little antique store in town.
The next picture is a rest. with a petro theme. Would have had lunch their but it was too early. Their sign was shaped like a gas pump.
This picture was a fantasy station in the movie Truman. Harry S Truman's house is one block away from this station. Notice the fake Gargoyle signs on the pillars.

Here are some misc. stations around the Kansas City area. Their are still numerous pictures to take but I hope to get a lot more close to summer. Notice the Skelly strip signs above the bays in the 1st picture. Here is an awesome little station that soon will be history. They have taken down the a lot of stuff around this station and it was all blocked off. I have been wanting to photograph this station before it gets tore down. Notice the maltese cross above the enrty in the last picture. Nice pictures, Scott! You should post 'em in FATW The three-bay station with the triangle awning is very interesting. I can say with relative certainty that the three bay portion was a 2-bay Marathon from the early to mid 50s, with the third bay being the office. Phillips 66 bout it out in the 60s, and built on the building with the distinctive triangle awning and strut signpost. The office of the Marathon building was likely turned into a bay at that time. I've seen a lot of this type of Marathon station converted to a Phillips 66, but never with the P-66 building added onto the side like this. Your Save Gas station looks like an old Fina sign. Wonder if it's still under there I'd like to have that one... Wes

Here are some pumps that I spotted around peoples houses or in the wild. This Fry is around my hometown and his grandkids broke this original globe (not Jarvis). This is the first time I have been able to photograph this pump because he usually runs people off of his property. So I snapped the picture and got out of their. This picture I had to stand on my running boards of my 4 runner to take this picture. It was a private drive. The picture above is only about 300 yards from this picture. Here is the world famous Western Auto Building with the headquarters located in Kansas City. This baby is bright red at night and looks great when lit up. I will try to get a picture of it at night. Wes, The sign is platic and is broken in one part and nothing behind it. I don't think it is the correct shape for Fina either. I spotted this display on the back roads going to take the picture of the Fry. Wes sorry I should have posted in FATW. Good call, Scott,
I suppose the tips are too rounded to be Fina... Wonder what it might have been?

Great pictures, Scott! I'm sad about that little stone station too. I really like the looks of that one. I can't believe how many of your neighbors have gas pumps on their property. What a nice area you picked to build a house! They gotta be nice people if they have gas pumps, huh? Maybe not the guy who chases people off though. LOL

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm 100% sure the stone station is getting the ball because of development in the area. I remember as a kid every time we came to Kansas City we passed this station. We called it the blue light because of a big blue flasing light that you see for a long ways. It was always the cheapest gas around the city. Hate to see it go for sure.
