If its a sticker and not a decal, you could try some WD40 or a commercial sticker remover like Goo be Gone! Your globe has a lens with the BAY insignia fired on the inside, so you shouldn't damage that in any way. I use Mothers metal polish to remove paint splatters from glass all the time but this looks like a lot of paint. If you're VERY careful, you can use a commercial paint stripper on the faces and it won't take much effort to remove that paint at all! GREAT looking globe! Good luck cleaning it up!

Jack, First of all I don't do globes. Have talked to Jarvis on more than one occasion and don't want to take a chance. Lately I have been using Orange GOOP hand cleanser, to clean items. Not sure if it will work as well on your globe as it does on handy oilers and Mazda lamp tins. But it does remove paint from those items without hurting the under layer of paper decals and/or painted metal. I picked up a Crest spinning head toothbrush at the Dollar store. Doesn't spin enough to "dig in" and seems to loosen up debris with a little patience. Make sure to show us the before and after photos.

Paint thinner is good, Laquer thinner is better. Neither will hurt the globe because the lenses and body are baked on. I would take the lenses off the body to clean them.

Hey Jack that looks great. As for the rings I would paint thinner on a rag & try wiping it off.

WOW! What a first globe. Are you going to keep it or is it for sale? You should always keep your first globe, I still have mine and its a beauty! Looks like it has cleaned up real well, what did you finally use to get the job done? Did the other side clean up as well as the one you posted? Anyway---CONGRATULATIONS!!

Used a razor blade and some goo gone to clean the lens and they both cleaned up them same the other lens has a couple of scratches in the outside of the glass. Not for sale and yes I've thought about buying a globe for some time, want to get a Champlin globe some day.
