Jack: I believe you are right for the most part. However, there are exceptions. My mother worked at a country store in Saskatchewan as a young girl. She saw I had some cans similar to the one shown and she said they would have them out by the pumps with Kerosene and even some bulk oil. I showed her my lubster and asked if they didn't have those for bulk oil and she said she didn't rememebr those, but had lots of cans with oil. The farmers would pull up in their grain trucks and cars to gas up and would buy quarts of oil and she said she remembers dipping a ladle into the oil and pouring it into quart jars and gallon buckets. "Hell of a mess," to quote her. She said the store didn't have electricity and she rememebrs hand pumping the visibile pumps. I found out this interesting piece of her history when she was visiting me and she happened to pick up your first book and opened to the visible pumps and said she rememebered those well.....
