I have always joked that most guys treat me Gas Pump book like a Playboy. They skip the front, and go directly to the pictures.
On page 6, I explain "The model number. Some companies used Model, Model No., Cut, or Fig. Because this can be confusing only the number is used here in the book."
As for the word "Cut" it appears to have been used by the older pump companies, G&B, Wayne & Bowser. Tokheim's first pumps were called "Outfits."
I believe the word came from the original drawing called a cut.
