Anybody out there know approximately how many U.S. owned gas/oil/refinery companies still exist, compared to, say, 10 year ago.

It seems everytime I turn around, somebody offshore is buying one of "ours". And is it my imagination or are the Brits making a run at non-middle eastern dominance on oil. Not a bad deal since they are so U.S. friendly. Also, each year we're operating fewer and fewer off-shore rigs.

Anyway, what would the list of US owned/held oil companies look like... Marathon, Citco, Spur, Clark... Speedway? Others?
