I came across a unique old
car dealership-gas station complex in Springfield,
Illinois, just off Historic Route 66. The showroom looks like a church, but
was actually a classy Cadillac, LaSalle and Oldsmobile dealership in the 1920s.
Click the above link to see photos and more info. This week I visited Bill Shea's Route 66 Gas Station Museum in Springfield, IL. That's a recommended stop for any gas station enthusiast passing through central Illinois. I also visited a unique auto dealership building now being put to a different use. A new page is in the works to show off the unusual architecture. Bruce Clark of Clark's Travel Center on Historic Route 99 in Indio,
Calfornia has 112 images of his vintage sign collection on his Web site. Fun
to browse.
We're proud to offer a cool T-shirt with a vintage gas station graphic in a classic retro style. The shirt reads,"Oldgas.com, Where old gas station enthusiasts hang out." This is a first class 7 color design with a logo on the front and large design on the back. For pictures and more information, click on the banner below.
Thursday, June 16, 2005, 10:14 p.m. I have updated the Oldgas Classifieds with a number of improvements.
All classified ads are now free. Now there is an image upload directly
from your computer into the ad with no code confusion. You will need
an image no larger than 480 pixels and 75k in memory size. The seller's
email address is no longer visible in the ad. There is a form for an
interested buyer to submit so spammers don't see your email address.
Take a look at the new format. It is searchable and a buyer can sign
up to get notified by email when an ad is posted that includes the words
he is searching for. New
