Help - Vintage Oil Can Image Album

This oil can image album requires a browser configured to process javascript and to allow pop-up image windows for larger image close ups. If you are using a "pop-up blocker" program, this may not work. If you experience problems with this album, we'd like to know. The album is not in perfect alphabetical order, some are listed by brand, some by oil company. Browse!

We are always looking for more images to add to this album.
The best way would be to take an individual picture of each can. Next best is to take a close up picture of 2 cans, close but not touching side-to-side. The large size images that are linked to the thumbnail size images in our album are about 380 to 400 pixels high. You can send me larger ones and I can easily resize them. But I can't make them bigger without getting blurry. Those of you with high resolution digital cameras can fit 6 or 8 cans in one picture as long as each can is 400 pixels tall. An example of one of the large size linked images is on the bottom of this page.

In many of the existing album images, a plain blue background can be seen. Do this by placing the cans on a floor like carpet or tile and taking the picture straight down. This works much better than a busy background, like furniture in the rest of the room, if the picture is taken on a table.

Group shots of a collection or grouped by brand are also very welcome, but they don't show the close up detail that individual can pictures can. You can send print photos for me to scan, images on a floppy or CD-R disk or images attached to email. I'll send my street address by return email, if requested.
