To all,

I work with enamels - vitreous enamels to be specific. As far as I know they are the same as what would be used in porcelain signs. A decade or so ago, non leaded enamel became more popular, but a ton of people still use the leaded variety. I can't imagine sanding it without water and without rubber gloves for that matter. If you repair signs and in the process you grind and sand the porcelain (enamel) I suggest you contact the manufactures and get the full information. If you are interested in specifics, let me know.
