Posted by I have recently purchased a GB self-measuring pump, model T-176. I am seeking info on its value and how to restore it. It is in perfect condition, but has been striped of all color and presently has a primer coat only. Any info would be greatly appreciated. on July 20, 2000 at 19:12:27:

: I JUST FINISHED RESTORING A G&B TYPE 177 MODEL 2. THE MODEL NUMBER DOESN'T HAVE ANY AFFECT ON THE RARITY. YOU CAN REFER TO IT AS A TYPE 177. ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 5, 1 BEING VERY COMMON AND 5 BEING LESS THAN 10 KNOWN TO EXIST, IT IS A 3. IN MY OPINION IT IS WORTH $1000 UNRESTORED IN AVERAGE CONDITION AND IT IS WORTH $4000 TO $6000 RESTORED DEPENDING ON THE QUALITY OF THE RESTORATION. THERE ARE SEVERAL MUST HAVE BOOKS AVAILABLE FROM VIC'S PLACE AND WEBERS (VICSPLACE.COM), (WEBERSPUMP.COM). ONE ENTITLED "GILBERT & BARKER/1865*GILBARCO/1989" THAT HAS PUMP DESCRIPTIONS AS WELL AS PUMP PARTS BREAKDOWNS. THE OTHER MUST HAVE BOOK IS "THE GAS PUMP COLLECTORS GUIDE" THAT HAS PUMP COLORS , VALUES ETC. I PERSONALLY ENJOY G&B PUMPS.
