Fry 117 Resto. Question

I'm restoring a Fry 117 Mae West and have a
question about the adjustable drain pipe and
the curved fill pipe. It looks like these pipes
were plated at one time, I can see it flaking off.
I was going to get them chromed. Is this right
or not? Also, the ID plates are in good shape.
Can the pump number be traced back to anything?
There is also a state number. The last Patent
date is 1923. Thanks for any info.
