: A pump we purchased came with ad glass for "Metro". We've been told this was a small division of Mobil. Does anyone know any more about this?

Hi Rene'
Metro was an indepenent marketer in N.W. New York state that was purchased by Socony-Vacuum (Mobil) in 1934. It was a second class grade sold at Mobil outlets until after WWII.
This info is from the book "Oil Company Signs" by Benjamin & Henderson. It is an excellent resource on oil company history and signs.
