: I am restoring a Rapid-Dayton with porcelain skirts. I need advice on paint prep... OK to sandblast and will a good self-etching primer like DP40 stick OK? Any tricks for painting over porcelain?
Greg, I always blast porcelain and then prime with a good heavy fill urethane. I have seen porcelain with the chips filled, then scuffed and primed. Looked fine, but I don't know how well it stays on. I also blast porcelain and powder coat. Powder coating seems to resemble the original porcelain orange peel closer than spray paint.
