capco bodies falling apart?

In the mid 80's, I purchased two repro globes on Capco bodies. They have been on display outside. Last week, I went to move them, and the plastic bodies are falling apart. I can stick my finger through the plastic. It is disintegrating! Is this normal? How long are the bodies suppose to last? Is it the same with old original bodies?
