: Anybody out there know the correct paint code for Shell yellow before 1959? The PPG Ditzler code 80104
: as listed in the "Gas Pump Collector's Guide" seems to be discontinued. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Kevin, I have some numbers I used on my sign. These are PPG#s and any GOOD automotive paint store should be able to mix or cross ref them: 81652 yellow, 71660 red, and Sikkens solid #418A1 tan. You may have to ask a couple of people, when I go in some of the new folks think the old books are from the 70's. It takes a couple of trips to the back of the store before someone comes up with the REAL OLD books, they are so valuable they don't like to bring them out. Go through the fleet colors section and you may find some other numbers. You may have to spend a few bucks ($20+) a pint to find the one you want. You just have to keep asking. Good luck.
