: I've heard that gasoline used to be tinted blue and green...etc.... Recently I heard about purple, sweet scented gasoline. Is this myth? Which brands used which colors.

Up untill about 5 years ago Conoco tinted their super unleaded red, midgrade pink and left their regular unleaded clear.Diesel is still tinted today, but only the untaxed off-road diesel, occasionally in the construction business we have IRS agents come by and check our work trucks to make sure we are not using off-road diesel.
